Meet Coach Jim Schubert

Coach SchubertA graduate of Manchester Central High School in 1966 Coach Jim Schubert lettered in four varsity sports including football, baseball, basketball, and track. After high school, he attended Ferrum Jr. College where he earned All-Conference and All-American honors as a QB. He then transferred to Wake Forest University where he played varsity football for two years. During those years he earned ACC player of the week against the University of Virginia as a linebacker.

Not long after college and a successful career as an athlete, Jim Schubert turned towards coaching. His first role was an assistant for the freshman football team at his Alma mater Wake Forest. He then returned to his home state to coach several youth football teams for the next decade. These teams included the Hooksett Jets, and the Manchester Vikings. In 1987 he started what would be a reign of Success at his former high school Manchester Central where he started coaching the freshman and worked his way to varsity in 1989. As varsity Coach he won six State Championships as well as a recent Shrine Bowl Victory in his final season prior to retirement in 2006.

Throughout his life, Coach Schubert has been recognized with numerous awards and achievements, such as "Moore Center Citizen of the Year", the Manchester Union Leader "Hero's" Award, and the Greater Manchester "Excellence" Award to name a few. He is also a member of the Central High School and Queen City Athletic Hall of Fame.
